Are vitamins considered FSA-eligible expenses?

Vitamins or nutritional supplements (herbal or natural medicines) will not qualify as FSA-eligible if used to maintain general good health. In narrow circumstances vitamins recommended by a medical practitioner to treat a medical condition may be eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN).

There are a few notable exceptions to this. For example, the following vitamins are eligible with your FSA:

Prenatal vitamins – contain Folic Acid and DHA for healthy development of babies before or during pregnancy.

Glucosamine Chondroitin - Can be taken to help relieve pain associated with [osteo] arthritis. Arthritis can cause joint pain and stiffness.
