Most vitamins or nutritional supplements will not automatically qualify as FSA-eligible if used to maintain general good health. However, vitamins and supplements recommended by a medical practitioner to treat a medical condition may be eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN).
There are a few notable exceptions to this. For example, the following vitamins are eligible with your FSA:
Prenatal vitamins – contain Folic Acid and DHA for healthy development of babies before or during pregnancy.
Glucosamine Chondroitin - Can be taken to help relieve pain associated with [osteo] arthritis. Arthritis can cause joint pain and stiffness.
Fiber supplements - certain fiber laxative supplements that contain bulk-forming soluble fiber to treat constipation and digestive issues are eligible as long as they contain no additional agreements and are not primarily for general health.
